About me, in my words
My course design and teaching experience has been shaped by my interest in innovative classroom instruction, including Project Based Learning and instructional technology. I specialize in finding the best teaching resources, introducing them to instructors, and helping to design instructional plans which integrate these new ideas and new technologies to aid in student success. I love a challenge and am always seeking out new methods to meet the requests of faculty. I love working in an environment where I can learn and share new techniques with others in my field and have access to all the wonderful resources and professionals who teach at the University of Arkansas.
My philosophy of online course development is to meet each faculty member where they are in the development process and work alongside them as much as possible to not only develop the course but also to build an appreciation for the alignment of course objectives, learning activities, and assessments that are essential to successful online course design and meeting the Quality Matters standards for Higher Education.
Course design does not stop with course launch and I make sure that all faculty that I work with know that I am here to support them as much as they need in order for the course to run smoothly and the student learning experience to be maximized. I will continue to analyze the course based on available student feedback and make suggestions for improvements or additions as needed.
The best part about working with faculty is...
Their creativity and passion for helping students. I love riffing on new ideas and ways to make teaching more engaging and authentic with faculty who know their students and are seeking to engage them with their content and expertise.
When I walk across the University of Arkansas campus, I am always amazed...
The views! My daughter makes fun of me but who couldn't be mesmerized by the view from the Greek Theater every...single...time?
My away-from-work passion is...
Traveling with my family. Seeing and learning about history in situ is our passion. We love Philadelphia, Colonial Williamsburg and Washington, D.C. and, of course, all our wonderful National Parks!
If I were not an instructional designer, I would probably be...
Teaching Instructional Technology courses to preservice teachers and field-based practitioners because I love the creativity, passion, and drive that can be found in classrooms. The reactions of students to new ways of learning is always energizing.
